ABOUT DETROIT UNION

Detroit Union Football Club is a semi-professional club that was founded in 2021 by player/owner Kevin Tapchom and competes in the East Division of the Midwest Premier League (MWPL). 

In its first ever season, DUFC qualified for the UPSL Midwest playoffs (top 4 teams).  The team was coached by former Detroit City Football Club player Roddy Green. Our players have played at many different levels of soccer, both domestic and internationally (professional, semi-professional, collegiate (DI, DII, DIII)) such as Detroit City FC, Tadcaster Albion AFC, Michigan Stars, University of Detroit Mercy, Saginaw Valley State University, Northwood University, Madonna University, Kalamazoo College, Schoolcraft College, Rochester College with many more teams represented previously.

  • Owner of the Detroit Union FC and Founder of Evolution Performance Training, a performance training facility focused on technical training and Agility with over 200 players from the USL championship level, DCFC (NISA), NCAA D1, MLS Next all the way down to travel soccer 

  • Played For Vardar U.S. soccer Academy senior year (now known as MLS NEXT) in 2014 with current teammate Michael Wetungu 

  • Part of Vardar Academy team that went to the National Quarterfinals and lost to LA Galaxy, who went on to win  National championship 

  • Played at the University of Detroit Mercy from 2014-2019

  • Played for Michigan Stars (NPSL) in 2019 along with current teammate Elton Gjura

MIDWEST PREMIER LEAGUE

The Midwest Premier League is a regional soccer league that is run by its member teams. The goals of the league are to focus on sustainability, promote high-level competition among clubs, encourage participation in regional and national cup competitions, and support all of our member clubs through sharing of ideas and best practices.
